Description:
On display a series of recent oil and ink paintings on paper: synthetic works with a narrative cut, in which a tiny individual - unmistakable protagonist of Taddei's works - finds himself in situations constantly poised between irony and paradox.
The artist proposes a metaphorical reading of the human condition, de-dramatizing, with subtle irony, the sense of emptiness and transience that man can experience in front of his own destiny.
Born in Viareggio in 1964, Valente Taddei, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, has a rich exhibit curriculum, with numerous personal and collective exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.
He has created illustrations for book covers (for the types of: Mauro Baroni Editore, Viareggio, Giulio Einaudi Editore, Turin, Alberto Gaffi Editore, Rome) and music CDs, for magazines (Lavazza News, Cfr :), for Internet sites.
In 2008 he illustrated with 10 unpublished tables the essay Pandora, the first woman by Jean-Pierre Vernant, published by Einaudi in the series 'L'Arcipelago'. He created the logo and the official poster of the 2013 edition of EuropaCinema, international film festival based in Viareggio, and the official poster of the Pietrasantino Carnival 2014.
The exhibition, sponsored by the City of Lucca, is organized in collaboration with the Mercurio Arte Contemporanea gallery in Viareggio and is accompanied by a catalog with a critical text by Marco Del Monte.
It will remain open until April 13th 2018, every day, with the following times:
