Maresa Lithgow's photographic exhibition "UrbanLove", curated by Giuseppe Joh Capozzolo, will be inaugurated on 22 February 2020 at 5.30 pm in the exhibition spaces of the Forma & Recupero Gallery in Via Cairoli 14 Massa.
The exhibition focuses on the dimension of urban life in the great metropolis explored by Lithgow through particular photographic points of view, to capture glimpses, objects, subjects, situations of the city commonly ignored due to their habituation to the living environment and its particularities. , induced by daily routines.
The title of the event, UrbanLove - urban love - starts from the shared feeling that leads two subjects to gradually recognize each other through the discovery of their respective personalities of which the same lovers enhance the characteristics congenial to life in common. So the photographer Maresa Lithgow, in her wandering in several large cities for essentially tourist reasons, captures through the lens of her camera aspects of urban living, of her protagonists and of her structures, normally hidden, which I shot in ways that enhance them the aesthetic combination and the communicative value become capable of speaking to the heart with unexpected warmth and color, generating unrepeatable feelings of affection, memory and nostalgia. Urban love, in fact.
Notes on the Artist:
Maresa Lithgow teaches generations of young people in Massa, the city where she lives, to English. His personal and intellectual path passes through three cultures, the Italian Anglo-Saxon and the Spanish, the immense love for languages and the constant transition between the American and European continent. Photography represented, especially after the mother's death, the attempt to ease the pain caused by the inevitability of life. His photos of cities seek a common thread between thought and reality by putting into practice his personal version of the mythical method of early twentieth century modernism. His images are a story, many stories and, perhaps, no story.
